Adobe Update May Affect Forms

We are currently investingating reports that the most recent software update from Adobe to its Adobe Reader utility for PDF documents, Adobe Reader X, is not compatible with our current implementation of contract forms. If you use these forms in REsearch, we suggest that you delay installing Adobe’s update for the time being.

If you have installed Adobe Reader X and are experiencing problems with contract forms in REsearch, you can uninstall the software, then download and install an older version of Adobe Reader, such as version 9.4.

Today’s Unplanned Outage

Early this morning, a hardware failure at one of our upstream network providers caused an extended unscheduled outage for most users of our services, including REsearch and AlohaLiving.com. We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we addressed the problem.

What Happened?

A misconfigured router and outdated backup arrangement between Oceanic Time Warner Cable and the University of Hawaii caused our servers to become unreachable. We understand that only two network customers were directly affected, but unfortunately, Hawaii Information Service was one of them.

Our networking department spent the morning on the phone speaking with various technicians and system administrators, and the problem was resolved shortly before 10:30 a.m. By the time you receive this notice, all users should again be able to access our systems as usual.

What Next?

Unfortunately, connectivity issues like these are often beyond our control. However we will continue to do our best to be responsive and resolve them as quickly as possible. If at any time you experience problems with our services, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Following this outage, as with every outage, we will review our emergency response procedures to minimize the impact on our valued members.

HAR Forms Updated

The 37 Hawaii Association of Realtors (HAR) standard forms have been updated for November 2010. Among the updates, there are substantive changes to the following:

  • RR101 – Exclusive Right to Sell Listing Contract
  • RR107 – Receipt of Seller’s Real Property Disclosure Statement

  • Click “Register Now” to complete the registration process. Once registered a confirmation email will be sent to your email address to confirm your registration along with a unique web ID number and instructions on how to login to the session on that day.
