If you encounter difficulties during this period, we encourage you to check our REsearch Help Center for frequently asked questions and other support documents.

And if you require urgent assistance, please call and leave a message on our emergency line by calling the main office number (800-628-3121 or 599-4224 on Oahu) and pressing * (star). Leave your name and contact number and our on-call staff will respond as soon as possible.
We hope you have a wonderful holiday, and we look forward to continuing to serve you in 2011!

Today’s Unplanned Outage

Early this morning (Dec. 11, 2011), it appears that there was a power outage at our off-site computer facility which necessitated the rebooting of our equipment. Upon the reboot, there was a problem with the login to REsearch. The problem has been just been resolved and members should now be able to login.

However, if you are still having problems logging in, please call our main office phone number at 1-800-628-3121 and press * (star) and then leave a message with your contact phone number in our emergency voice mailbox. Our on-call staff will then be notified that there is an emergency message.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you and thank you for your patience.

New Password Requirements Coming

REsearch Security Upgrade: System Enrollment Starts January 11, 2011

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please read and share this bulletin, which will explain the start of our enhanced security enrollment process, new password rules, and answer frequently asked questions about this REsearch security upgrade.

Earlier this year, HIS announced plans to implement a new security initiative designed to provide optimum protection of valuable MLS and customer data by preventing unauthorized access and account sharing. That first phase, which involved updating the web login module, is now complete.

Beginning January 11, 2011, you will be directed to a new login page and login form:

After you log in with the username and password that you presently use to access the HIS system, you will then be taken through a short enrollment process where you will establish three secret questions, as well as set up a new password.

You will only have to do this once. Upon successful completion of the enrollment process, you will be able to log in each time with your username and the new password that you created during enrollment.

Secure Password Requirements

During enrollment, you will be required to select a password that meets specific, but straightforward, complexity requirements. Your REsearch password must:

  • Be eight or more characters in length (maximum 12).
  • Contain at least six letters (i.e. a-z).
  • Contain at least one number (i.e. 0-9).
  • Not contain spaces, special characters or symbols.

We strongly discourage the use of dictionary words or any familiar combination of letters or numbers (pet names, birthdates, etc.) that could be easy to guess. The security of any system is often only as strong as its weakest password.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we implementing enhanced security on REsearch?
In addition to an improved security posture that ensures valuable data doesn’t end up compromised, members also have the benefit of revenue assurance – assuring that only authorized users of the MLS have access to the service.

Will I be able to save my username and password in my browser?
No. As before, you will not be able to save your username or password, as this technology involves keystroke recognition and will require you to type your username and password with each login. This is not a recommended practice, in any case, particularly when private or personal data is concerned.

Will the location of the member login page change?
Yes. Beginning Jan. 11, 2011, you will be directed to a page at safemls.net, which is managed by Clareity Security, our MLS security vendor. If you’ve bookmarked our current login page, you should be redirected to the new location automatically. However, we recommend that you bookmark or set HawaiiInformation.com as your homepage in your browser, as it will always direct you to the correct login page for REsearch.

Will I need any special plugins or software to log into REsearch?
Since February, the login module has required that Flash be installed on your system. If you’ve been able to login without incident, you should continue to be able to access REsearch as before.

What if I need help?
Our customer support team will be prepared to assist you during this transition. You can call toll free (800) 628-3121, or (808) 599-4224 from Oahu, and press option #1. You can also email us at support@hawaiiinformation.com.
